What happens
Step by step
- 1The area is numbed fully; sedation options are discussed beforehand where a child needs them.
- 2A small opening is made in the gum, and if needed the tooth is divided to remove it in pieces rather than forcing it out whole.
- 3The area is cleaned and closed with a few dissolving stitches. Aftercare is explained before you leave.
What your child will feel
Pressure and pushing during the procedure, but no sharp pain. Swelling and soreness for a few days afterwards, managed with the aftercare given.
